Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton confirmed the IDA Ireland-backed €60 million, 200-job investment. However, with employment touching 25% in parts of Waterford city, Deputy Deasy said, “I think it’s great news but it needs to be put into perspective.
“It’s true to say we’ve seen more IDA site visits and joined-up thinking across departments, and I thank Minister Bruton for paying due attention to the region. But the fact remains that 82% of Foreign Direct Investment over the past six years has gone to Dublin, Cork and Galway.
“The IDA have picked up their game, but this is not the time for them to relax. The job has only begun,” Mr Deasy stressed.
